Sundials by Robert Foster Commission a dial

Documents to print

Nine printed sheets that Robert put online himself: the installation notes, a page of Latin mottoes, three blank dial faces for setting out an inscription, an order form to post, and a map to the workshop.

Each one opens as a PDF. The size of every file is given, so you know what you are opening before you open it.

Choosing a piece

For weighing one dial against another, and for working out what it will stand on. Robert does not send pedestals long distances, so a local supplier is usually the answer.

Setting out your inscription

Three of the dial faces, printed blank. Write your wording on the sheet and you can see how it sits before anything is engraved.

Ordering by post

For anyone who would rather write than telephone. Cheques are payable to Sundials, and card details are given over the telephone.

  • Sundial Order Form (PDF)

Lines for each item and its price, the address at Maw's Craft Centre, the office and workshop numbers, and the payment details.

Setting the dial up

For when the dial is home and has to be put in the right place facing the right way, and for anyone still choosing their words.

Finding the workshop

Maw's Craft Centre is at Jackfield, in the Ironbridge Gorge. Telephone before setting out, so that someone is there.

How to order

Robert takes orders by telephone, by post, and in the showroom at Maw's Craft Centre. Card details are given over the telephone.
