The Smash Room was set up in 2009 by experienced musicians Andrew Eastment and his brother Steven, to give local and touring bands quality rehearsal space at a fair price. Two decades on, it is four fully backlined rooms, a full recording studio, an electronics repair bench and a music shop, all under one roof off Ketley Business Park.

In the control room

Record, mix and master it properly.

Neve and API preamps, a Neumann U87 and Shure SM57s into a Lynx converter and a Pro Tools HD rig loaded with Waves, Soundtoys and Slate. Tracked and mixed by engineers who have put out records, not just demos.

Good to know

The questions bands ask most before their first session.

What equipment is provided?
Every rehearsal room comes with a drum kit, guitar and bass amplifiers, a PA system and microphones. The studio adds the full recording chain. You can also bring your own gear if you prefer.
What should I bring?
Your instruments, drum cymbals and drumsticks, and any personal cables you like to use. Everything else is here.
Can I bring my own equipment?
Yes. You are welcome to bring your own amps, pedals and instruments. If you are planning something unusual, give us a call first so we can make sure the room is set up right.
Can I store my gear?
Secure storage can often be arranged between rehearsals for a monthly fee. Ask at reception and we will sort it out.
How soundproof are the rooms?
The rooms are properly treated, with sound reduction between rooms of around 100dB, so you can be as loud as you like without bleeding into the next band.
Can I eat and drink in the room?
Food and drink are fine as long as nothing gets spilled on the equipment. Reception has refreshments and free WiFi if you need a break.
