Velux windows and roof lights in Shrewsbury and Telford

Roof windows fitted into slate and tile roofs, and flashed in so the rain runs round them.

New fits, replacements and conservation rooflights

Cut through the courses, down to the rafters.

    • Size code

    A straight swap

Leaking, misted, or stiff to open. The plate code gives the size.

  • Conservation rooflight

Slimmer, and sits lower in the roof than a standard unit.

How a roof window keeps the rain out

  • Head lead
  • Glass
  • Apron
  • Frame
A roof window in section. The lead apron and head carry water round the frame, back onto the tiles.
  1. Down

    Rain runs down the glass.

  2. Out

The lead apron takes it clear.

  3. Away

    Back onto the tiles below.

Is it leaking, or condensation?

Water on the inside of the glass on a cold morning is usually condensation. Water round the frame, or staining below it, points to the flashing or the seals.

Can you replace one without redoing the roof?

Usually. A replacement means working on the window and the slates or tiles right around it, not the whole roof.
